Hi friends!
Today the weather seems to be warmer… at a whopping 30 degrees! How wonderful it is!
We held class in the Fine Arts SINC Site and did a walking tour of E-Media & Hybrid. We first when to Hybrid Lab and went over what was inside the SINC Site and how Fine Arts is one of the few 24hour access SINC Sites for students who take classes that allow them to do so. We then went down to E-Media, and talked more about the site policies and the many technologies and equipment that it holds. We played around with the tablet, which was fun, and then talked about the projector and sound systems. We talked about some of the programs that the Macs in the site hold, which are not found in the windows PCs. I was also shocked to hear that these SINC Sites cost a lot of money to create ($100-150k!). We also learned more about problems with the projectors, mainly with sound, and how to fix them and footprint them with Ben.
I felt this day was a good learning experience for me. I just started working in Fine Arts this year and there is still much more for me to learn concerning the site. Even though I work in Hybrid Lab during the nighttime when it’s not as busy, it was nice to learn about what the site has to offer so that I could have information when others are in need, or if I would work there in the future during busy hours.
This week, I learned how to use google forms and doodle to create attendance sheets for site meetings, as well as other things I would need to organize as a site manager. Danny started asking me about workshops and if I had any topics that I specialized in. We also went over the computing center, where the paper runners get all the paper for the SINC Sites. This week I also learned about Sparky and instances where users will need help with creating or accessing accounts.
