The Institute for Terrestrial and Planetary Atmospheres (ITPA) invites a distinguished scholar each year to present a seminar to honor the contributions of Distinguished Professor Emeritus Robert D. Cess to the development of atmospheric sciences at Stony Brook University. Dr. Yuk L. Yung is the Distinguished Cess Lecturer for 2012.
Dr. Yung is the Smits Family Professor of Planetary Science in the Department of Geological and Planetary Sciences at California Institute of Technology. Professor Yung’s research publications are in six overlapping areas: atmospheric chemistry, atmospheric radiation, global change, planetary atmospheres, planetary evolution and astrobiology using numerical simulation, laboratory experiments and field observations.
Professor Yuk Yung is a Fellow of the American Geophysical Union and also a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
Dr. Yung presented his Cess seminar on “Global Remote Sensing and Spatial Patterns of Carbon Dioxide” at SoMAS on Wednesday, April 25, 2012.
