The next Topics in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (TAOS) seminar will take place onWednesday, September 4, at 12:00 noon in Endeavour Hall 120. Professor Bruce Anderson from the Department of the Earth and Environment, Boston University, will present a seminar entitled, “Extratropical Triggering of El Nino Onset Through the Trade-wind Charging Mechanism.” Light refreshments will be served. The first Oceans and Atmosphere Colloquium for this semester will take place on Friday, September 6 at 12:00 noon in Endeavour Hall 120. Professor Dong-Ping Wang will present a seminar entitled, “Can we tell the Cause for Recent Global Warming From Model and Observation?” All are welcome to attend. Miscellaneous
Volunteers are needed to assist with the new student BBQ scheduled for Friday, September 13. If you can help with set-up on the afternoon of September 12 and/or the morning of September 13, please email gina.gartin@stonybrook.edu. We will also be seeking volunteers to help clean up.
Due to the move of building feeders, there may be power interruptions on the following dates: Dana Hall on 9/5 at 7:30 and 7:45 a.m., Discovery Hall on 9/6 at 7:30 a.m., Challenger Hall on 9/6 at 7:45 a.m., and Endeavour Hall on 9/6 at 8:00 a.m. Please secure all sensitive electronic equipment during the designated times.
