Shamin Sahebzada wins Student Award for Academic Excellence

Shamin (pictured here center, with Dr. Sharon Pochron, left, and Mai Fahmy, right) was selected to receive an award for Academic Excellence in the Spring 2016. Criteria for this award included students whose passion for learning has extended beyond the classroom. Some of the things that Shamin participated in are: Earthstock Environmental Student Research Exhibition keynote speaker, Flax Pond Marin Laboratory intern, Being named to the Dean’s List, participation in URECA and SUNY Maritime New York Marine Science Consortium, recipient of Sustainability Studies Summer Research award and ongoing research in the Sustainability Studies Earthworm Ecotoxicology Lab.  Shamin has just received a scholarship to attend NYU in their MPH program, and came to work with Dr. Pochron through his courses in his major coursework.

Mai Fahmy, also a Sustainability Studies student, has just been accepted into the Fordham doctoral program in Biological Sciences.  We congratulate them on all their fantastic accomplishments !
