The Institute for Terrestrial and Planetary Atmospheres (ITPA) invites a distinguished scholar each year to present a seminar to honor the contributions of Distinguished Professor Emeritus Robert D. Cess to the development of atmospheric sciences at Stony Brook University. This year’s Cess Distinguished Speaker is Dr. Jeffrey Kiehl.
Dr. Jeffrey Kiehl is the Head of Climate Change Research at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder, Colorado. He is a Fellow of the American Geophysical Union and a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society. Dr. Kiehl is the author of 120 peer-reviewed scientific papers. He received the NCAR Outstanding Publication Award in 2006 and the Distinguished Achievement Award in 2003 for his role in the development of the Community Climate System Model.
Dr. Kiehl presented his Cess seminar on “Earth’s Warm Climates of the Past and Their Implications for Future Climate Change” at SoMAS on Wednesday, April 6, 2011.
