Information, Talks, and Publications about Atmospheres

This is the final week for this semester’s Topics in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences seminar, Oceans and Atmosphere Colloquium, and Friday Weather Discussion.  Enjoy the winter break.

This week’s Topics in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (TAOS) seminar will take place onWednesday, December 4, at 12:00 noon in Endeavour Hall 120.  Professor Arun Kumar from the Climate Prediction Center, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), will present a seminar entitled, “SST-precipitation Relationship in Different Reanalysis and Model Simulations”. This week’s Oceans and Atmosphere Colloquium (OAC) will take place on Friday, December 6, at12:00 noon in Endeavour Hall 120. Professor Andy Juhl from the Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory at Columbia University will present a seminar entitled, “Arctic Sea Ice Algal Communities”.  For further information, please contact Steve Ortega at 2-8781.

The Friday Weather Discussion will take place on December 6 at 4:30 p.m. in Endeavour Hall 139. Topic to be announced on day of discussion.

Miscellaneous

This is the last week to purchase tickets for the SoMAS holiday party.  This year’s holiday party will take place on Wednesday, December 18, from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. at Flowerfield in St. James.  Ticket prices are as follows: $25 students, $30 staff, and $35 faculty.  Tickets must be purchased byMonday, December 9.
