This week’s Topics in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (TAOS) seminar will take place on Wednesday, April 16, at 12:00 noon in Endeavour Hall 120. Dr. Nick Gorkavyi from NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, will present a seminar entitled “New Stratospheric Dust Belt Due to the Chelyabinsk Bolide: View from the Limb Profiler (NNP/Suomi Satellite).” Light refreshments will be served. A faculty forum will be held on Wednesday, April 23, from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. in Endeavour Hall 113. Topics are as follows: 1. The Department of Homeland Security invites applications via two announcements to establish and sustain S&T Coastal Resilience Centers of Excellence including a lead center and three partner centers. Research will be conducted in three technical areas: coastal Infrastructure resilience, building resilient communities and disaster dynamics. One lead center award of $4 million is anticipated. Three partner centers may be established from an anticipated $500,000 in available funding. Program eligibility is restricted to institutions of higher education.
