Information, Talks, and Publications about Atmospheres
This week’s Topics in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (TAOS) seminar will take place onWednesday, April 30, at 12:00 noon in Endeavour Hall 120. Dr. Isla Simpson from the Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory at Columbia University will present a seminar entitled “The Importance of Topography for the Large Scale Dynamics and Climate of the Mediterranean Region.” Light refreshments will be served. This week’s Oceans and Atmosphere Colloquium will take place on Friday, May 2, at 12:00 noon in Endeavour Hall 120. Professor George V. Lauder from the Museum of Comparative Zoology at Harvard University will present a seminar entitled, “Using Robotics as a Comparative Method to Understand the Functional and Evolutionary Diversity of Fishes.” For further information, please contact Steve Ortega at 2-8781.
There will be two special seminars this week in Endeavour Hall 120. (1) On Tuesday, April 29 at 1100 a.m., Professor Klaus Mueller from Stony Brook’s Computer Science Department will present a talk entitled, “Visual Analytics for Multivariate Data Analytics with Application to Climate Science Research”, and (2) on Thursday, May 1 at 2:30 p.m., Dr. Brandon Hertell, meteorologist at the Consolidated Edison Company of NY, will present a talk entitled, “Weather and Impact Forecasting at a Public Utility. All are welcome to attend both seminars.
The Friday Weather Discussion will take place on May 2 at 4:30 p.m. in the Meteorology Laboratory, Endeavour Hall 139. Topic to be announced on day of discussion.
