Growing up in South Florida was a warm embrace that lasted sixteen years. I have fond memories of humid nights spent chasing frogs and counting all that I could find. I wanted to commemorate this time I spent as a child searching for lizards and frogs because even over a decade later the memory still holds weight. In this painting I aimed to capture this sense of nostalgia that comes with reflecting on my childhood in the Sunshine State. This piece belongs to a body of work where I will continue to explore why I am drawn to paint things that my younger self would adore.
