The Imagination of Reading, 2021
Acrylic and ink mixed media on found books

From the time I could comprehend words, I never ceased to have a book in my
hand. I’ve always loved fiction novels, especially those that far surpass realism. I
attribute my creativity and vivid imagination to the hundreds of books I have read, which
inspired me to create The Imagination of Reading as my body of work.

Until now, I have never questioned exactly how we interpret and imagine a new
reality from words printed on a page. In this body of work, I am exploring the concept of
reading in regards to the mind’s illusion of such, our limitations of interpretation, and
comparison between the view of one individual to another. More or less so, I find that
reading is like putting puzzle pieces of images together in thought, however, all of these
puzzle pieces are unique to an individual’s mind.
