Faded Fragments of Comfort

I never truly experience loss before the day I lost you. You were my grandmother and I missed you dearly ever since last year. You were there when I was born. You always had caramel cubes ready whenever my siblings and I came to visit. Sadly, as the years went on, you began to lose your memory. You were a victim of Alzheimer’s disease. Visit after visit, your memories faded and it felt like you were gone, mentally. What I have to remember you by these little red slippers, they symbolize the comfort you provided and I will never let them out of my sight.
