Self Defined Project Proposal: Memory Tribute

For my final project, my topic is to focus on memory. In the beginning of the semester, I brought in an article about an artist named William Utermolhen, who suffered Alzheimer’s disease. He was an American artist known for his paintings and drawings. Before he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, he has done many self portraits. They were really detailed and realistic. But after his diagnosis, you can see the dramatic art shift between his self portraits. While I do not suffer from this neural disease, my late grandmother did suffer from it and I would like to make a personal tribute to her. For my project, I would like to make an abstract artwork based on bright red slippers that she used to own. The slippers would be detailed but eventually lose their color and become washed out and faded.
