final proposal write up

For the final project, my aim is to highlight fragmented pieces of a person that will conclude in a final representation of them. I am choosing to do a series of photos for 2-3 people to create a story that the viewers will be able to put together as if they were ‘people watching’ and saw the person I photographed on their own. I personally enjoy the natural process one goes through when seeing someone for the first time at a first glance. So I hope my series of photos can portray this feeling too.

In addition, I would like to add a little flair of my own to a few of the photos. I enjoyed researching Ben Heine, originally from Belgium, an artist known for his “Pencil Vs. Camera” artwork. Heine’s photo series’ included hand drawn images held up in view of the camera with a seamless transition from his drawing into the photograph. Instead of following his method I am choosing to photoshop directly onto my images.

Two other artists that also sparked inspiration was Brisseaux and Cristiana Costin who both add graphics directly onto their artwork/photos digitially. Personally, I can relate to them as I enjoy the graphic design elements, which I will be doing to highlight certain aspects of my pieces to add to their meaning.

Overall, the pieces of art I researched were inspiring and helped me be more creative throughout this final project.
