Thank you for your participation in the study so far! It helps us understand how many factors, like personality, biology, and stress, lead to emotional development across childhood and adolescence, and into early adulthood.
For the current phase of the study, in early adulthood, you will be asked to attend a lab visit at Stony Brook University, complete a phone interview around the time of the visit, and take a series of very brief surveys several times a day for 2 weeks after the visit.
To compensate you for your time, you will be paid up to $350 for completing all parts of the study.
Lab Visit
- Takes place at Stony Brook University
- Lasts about two hours
- Scheduled at your convenience (weekends, weekdays, holidays, etc.)
- Includes completing EEG tasks (EEG is a non-invasive and safe procedure, pictured above)
- Parents will not participate in the lab visit
Other Assessments
- Two remote (e.g., Zoom, Facetime) interviews, one lasting approximately 1 hour and the other lasting 1-2 hours.
- A questionnaire (completed remotely at your convenience). This should take about an hour and fifteen minutes.
- A series of very brief (2-3 mins) electronic surveys several times a day for 2 weeks
(If you are currently working on the electronic surveys, download the RealLife Exp Information Packet for more information.
Informant Questionnaire
- You will choose someone 18 years or older who knows you well to complete a very brief online questionnaire about your personality, behavior, and relationships with others
