Our Key Goal:

To reduce likelihood of major bleeding and thrombosis through automated administration and analysis of aPTT and TEG tests

• • Increases survival rate of ECMO patients
  • Lowers labor costs and, consequently, overall treatment costs

 

Motivation: 

• The motivation for doing this project was primarily the ECMO’s clinical significance and the medical condition that it causes, that is blood coagulation:
  • • ECMO is a life support machine that can only support patients temporarily because of the formation of blood clots caused by the interaction of blood and the biomaterials in ECMO.
    • Since blood coagulation can cause deadly consequences such as cardiac failure, our aim is to come up with an upgraded anticoagulation system.
