Lucas Iudica (Ph.D. Student) – I’m interested in using DNA metabarcoding, acoustic telemetry, and stable isotope analysis to better understand the diet and trophic ecology of highly migratory shark species on the NY artificial reefs. My current research pairs telemetry data with shark fecal material containing reef-associated fish DNA to identify feeding events on reef structure.

Though my current concentration in the lab is largely sharky, I started volunteering during the Fall of 2020 picking seagrass and watching black sea bass footage… and I’ve been loving it ever since! Outside of work, I enjoy playing mandolin, fishing, and am an avid rock climber.
