Michael Wauson (Ph.D. Student) – I am interested in invasive species ecology and how local species adapt and compete with invasive species. My research will focus on the green and spotted moray eels down in the Florida Keys and how those two mesopredators are adapting to the introduction of lionfish. Previously, my research focused on conservation work, whether that be part of the MaRSHI project (Undergraduate) trying to restore the wetlands in Iraq or with loggerhead sea turtle conservation (Masters) and discovering unique ways to protect the nest from the invasive coyotes that inhabited the island.
