“The Fall 2020 issue of Stony Brook Magazine introduces the University’s sixth president, Maurie McInnis, a renowned cultural historian. In her own words, she shares her vision for Stony Brook, its role in transforming the future of higher education and how 2020 may prompt institutions to reexamine how they can meet the changing needs of their students.

The issue also highlights some of the incredible people who make our University #StonyBrookStrong — the essential healthcare workers who risked their lives to save others during the peak of the pandemic; the community members who united to support them and our students in need; and the faculty striving to advance their fields as they navigate the virtual world of teaching.” (Source: In This Issue)
