A Collaborative Effort by Painting III & IV, Spring ’25

The Transition State explores what it means to exist in a world of uncertainty—internally and externally. This collection of artworks invites viewers to reflect on the unseen moments of life: the transitory eclipses between one point to another, be it physical movements or sentimental values. Each piece in the exhibition captures a fragment of the quotidian—quiet gestures, fleeting interactions, subtle tensions—transformed and captured through the perceptive faculty of color, texture, and form.

In The Transition State, time is not linear. Much like the concept of eternalism, extrapolations of internal and external moments are sporadically presented as they were perceived in the same plane; viewers simply exist in the same realm as they maneuver through the creators’ lived experiences in between.

At the heart of the exhibition are the themes of identity and expression. These paintings give visual form to the inner dialogues we often suppress—questions about who we are, how we are perceived, and how we choose to rationalize the gaps in between. Expression becomes a survival tool in that process, via layered surfaces, shifting forms, and emotive marks.

The works do not offer a sense of resolution. Instead, they honor our imperfect attempts to persevere with our value systems in the face of existential entropy.
