Insignificant Objects
Finding a surprising synergy in similar projects from other students, this series goes in a different direction by examining the unimportant, underappreciated objects that I use in my everyday. From a palm cross that has sat forgotten on bookshelves and cases in the last 4 years to 25 year old unbranded cutlery that shows the marks of its age.
Palm Cross woven on Palm Sunday 4 years ago. Central interlocking pattern created to utilize excess palm after trimming the end incorrectly. Left arm of the cross is noticeably thinner than the right. Noticeable discoloration of the top arm.
Keyring with Tile bluetooth locator – meant to locate the keys, but usually used to locate my phone. Blue Multilock Interactive+ key for front and garage door – A lock cylinder favored by my father for pick and drill resistance, strong key control, and convenient bidirectional key orientation. Minutekey duplicate for low security door knob key. Blue WebAuthn/FIDO2 security key by Yubico for enhanced internet security of my password manager and google accounts.
Light and dark grey keycaps of my Massdrop ALT 60% keyboard with cherry MX brown switches. The small size of the keyboard, pleasant keyswitch tactility, hot swappable switches, and useful backlight make this mkb a personal favorite.
‘Constant’ black titanium glasses by eyebuydirect. The left arm is over tight; the right over loose. A chip on the left glass sits just above the center of vision.
Black Samsung Gear smartwatch on a black rubber band. Band has retained the odor of sani-cloth medical grade disinfectant, used to remove a number of bodily fluids from its surface.
Butterknife, fork, and spoon. Unknown brand, ~25 years old.
QiYi MoFangGe 5×5 puzzle cube – partially solved.
Frigidaire freezer and refrigerator.

‘Film History an Introduction’ – 4th edition – Kristin Thompson and David Bordwell. Rental due in 2 days.
Unbranded storage box converted into cathouse. The stray cats do not sleep in it.
