Quantifying Variability in Loggerhead Sea Turtle Diet
in New York Waters

The loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) occurs in New York waters during summer months, but little is known about the diet of this species in this region. Diet shifts of loggerhead sea turtles have been linked with long-term changes in prey abundance. In collaboration with the Riverhead Foundation, we are evaluating variability in loggerhead sea turtle diet in New York from stomach samples collected from 1995 to 2014 and examining how this variability is related to oceanographic and ecological change.
