Outreach

I am heavily involved with the Biomedical Engineering Society and Alpha Eta Mu Beta chapters at Stony Brook University. I have organized and hosted multiple fun and interactive workshops for both grade school students visiting the university.

Grade school students are taken through the Genes in a Bottle workshop, an activity created by Bio-Rad Laboratories where the students learn about DNA by extracting them from their cheek cells and precipitating them into a visible form. They then can transfer the visible DNA into a necklace amulet to bring home. This activity is one of the most popular and successful outreach activities in the university.

I am currently designing similar learning modules with a focus on biomedical engineering. These learning modules will be designed such that any educator can run the module with their students without any aid.
