Helloooooooo everyone! Welcome back to a new semester at Stony Brook. The first few days are either smooth sailing experience or a crazy mess. The snow days have definitely pushed everyone and everything a few steps back. With a new semester, there are always questions about the printing services that TLT provides. There are 4 topics about the printing services I will be talking about in this post:

Printing Quota
Each week, from Monday to Sunday, registered students are allowed to print approximately 140 pages. You can use this quota to print in the SINC Sites, Health Sciences Library, Residential Computing Centers, and satellite printers.

What is a satellite printer?
A satellite printer is a remote printer that is on campus but not in a SINC Site. There are currently located in Frey Hall, Javits Lecture Center, SAC & Melville Library Commuter Lounges, Psychology and Biomedical Engineering buildings. You can release any print jobs with these printers as long as you have your ID card.

Print From Anywhere – Software
Print From Anywhere is a software that you can download to enable printing from your personal computers. Currently, there are Print From Anywhere software for Macs and Windows. They are actively updated and can be downloaded from the IT page: http://it.stonybrook.edu/help/kb/print-from-anywhere-packages. You can print a document from your personal computer and go to any printer to release your print job. These print jobs sent via Print From Anywhere will be stored in the SINC Site Print Queue for 24 hours. After that it will be purged.

Print From Anywhere – Email and Website
You can also send print jobs by sending an email. From your Stony Brook University email account, compose a new email addressed to printfromanywhere@stonybrook.edu. Emails sent to printfromanywhere@stonybrook.edu MUST come from your Stony Brook University (@stonybrook.edu) email account. Print jobs sent from personal email accounts will not be processed by Pharos and will be deleted.

You can also send print jobs online. You can go to https://print.stonybrook.edu/webrelease and upload a file and have it printed.

These two methods do not allow double-sided printing. If you wish to have double-sided printing, you must use a SINC Site computer or your personal computer with Print From Anywhere. More info can be found on: http://it.stonybrook.edu/help/kb/sending-print-jobs-to-the-print-from-anywhere-queue-from-an-email
