Educational Technologies Mission:
To design, build and maintain physical and virtual learning environments that include the technology and facilities that promote education, interaction, collaboration and exploration.
To provide presentation support, equipment and facilities to the University community
To make the most of our talents and resources by providing services to the education and administration communities such as video production, streaming services, shared meeting spaces, design consultation and support for special events
Major Accomplishments First Quarter, 2015
Media Systems Engineering
- Installed data projectors and media control systems in two lecture halls that didn’t have any previous system
- Installed lecture capture in four large classrooms
- Replacing the data projector and adding HDMI support in 8 classrooms
- Installed Smart Boards to support secondary teacher education in three classrooms
- Specified and supervised the installation of two new video conferencing facilities at SBSh
- Worked with Hospital Networking to design and implement a new classroom and AV network infrastructure
- Completed the installation of the campus’s first One Button Studio to encourage faculty recording of instructional material
- Replaced the computers in nine classrooms
- The use of SBCapture continues to grow. The Statics for the fiscal year ending July 1.
- 820,619 lecture videos were viewed
- 5,145 new lectures were uploaded
Academic Facilities
- Specified and supervised the installation of new LED lighting system and dimmers in two HSC classrooms (Funded by HSC Facilities)
- Replaced outdated tablet arm chairs in three rooms with new, flexible furniture that promotes group interaction (Shared funding with Center for Science and Math Education)
- Began placing mobile digital device charging stations in areas outside classrooms. This will ensure that students tablets are charged and ready for class
- Replaced the instructors lectern and table in 10 HSC classrooms
Video Production Group
- Logged 1,037 hours of videography and editing
- Completed 38 projects
