About

I am a recently minted Ph.D. in political science at Stony Brook University. My dissertation research focused on several controversies in American Politics. The first project in my dissertation investigates a potential cause of political polarization. The second project examines the influence of slippery slope arguments on support for gun control. The last piece of my dissertation shows that gender bias negatively impacted Clinton in 2016 but some Democrats were able to overcome their gender bias with motivated reasoning. Other areas of research include the influence of prejudice on voter turnout, the effects social desirability on pre-election support for Trump in 2016, and the relationship between motivated reasoning and accusations of racism. I find political behavior endlessly fascinating especially the interaction between the individual and the political context. But deep down, I am a data nerd. I enjoy coding and analyzing data. I am always trying to learn new statistics and techniques for modeling data. I love playing with new types of data and learning how the nuances of the data generating process lead to different data processing methods, statistical tests, and assumptions.
