In today’s world, there are several solutions available to treat arrhythmia.

Three treatment methods are listed down below:

1. Pacemaker

(Pacemaker | Stanford Health Care, n.d.)

A Pacemaker is an electronic device that correct or prevent an abnormally slow heartbeat.

  • It turns on when the heartbeat is too slow, also known as bradycardia, and it turns back off once the heartbeat returns to normal.
  • When using a pacemaker, one has to avoid magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines or other large magnetic fields (Pacemaker | Stanford Health Care, n.d.).

2. Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator (ICD)

An Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator is a small, battery-powered device that our heart specialists implant under the skin in your chest or abdomen.

  • Doctors recommend use ICDs to treat tachycardia, an abnormally rapid, but regular, heart rate.

3. Blood Thinner (Warfarin)

(Canadian Prescription Drugstore, 2004)

A pill that slows down the amount of blood clots from forming in the body.

  • Warfarin doesn’t break up your current blood clots but, they can stop them from increasing in size.
  • Despite its benefits, taking too much warfarin can still harm the body in negative ways.
  • Due to the different amount of Vitamin K in everyone’s’ bodies, the dosage may vary from individual to individual (Blood Thinners for Atrial Fibrillation Stroke Prevention, 2021).
