As a former Stony Brook music major whose studies were interrupted by motherhood and work, I’ve returned to complete an MA in English.  This site is currently a bit sparse: I actually created it last semester in order to produce posts for a global rhetorics class.

In the next few months, I look forward to learning about the rapidly-changing digital world and subsequently being able to apply this knowledge to many life situations. I’m currently writing a thesis on the parallel progression towards discovery in The Left Hand of Darkness and “The Allegory of the Cave.”

I commute by ferry from Connecticut, where I live with my husband, son, daughter, cat, and Freebie, my rescue hamster. I work too many hours, but sometimes escape reality through a movie, a good book, or a very occasional sensory deprivation chamber. Perhaps I’m missing out on virtual reality?
