An upper-level trough will be moving through the northeast overnight, bringing with it a surface cold front that will drop temperatures across the area and a slight chance of precipitation. With the passing of the trough, an upper-level ridge will set up over the northeast with a strong surface high pressure system centered in Ontario, Canada, keeping the beginning of the weekend sunny and dry. Northerly flow associated with this high will keep temperatures low Saturday, until the high moves offshore Saturday afternoon. This pressure shift will introduce warm, southerly air into the area resulting in a slight temperature rise for Sunday.
