Celebrating the WGSS@SBU Class of 2020

To the WGSS@Stony Brook community:

Over the next month and beyond, we will use this blog as a space for celebrating graduating majors and minors in Women’s, Gender, & Sexuality Studies at Stony Brook University.

We polled the WGSS 2020 majors and minors to find out how best to make their graduation experience as memorable as possible. Many students liked the idea of a blog, so we are making that happen and we need your help! To all WGSS majors and minors: we welcome short written and/or video testimonies about your experiences in WGSS at Stony Brook. We want to hear about what you hope to do in the future, about how your families and friends have supported you, about your dreams, memories, and reflections. We also welcome videos of you reading a favorite quotation or poem, or something you yourself have written, as well as other forms of creative work (visual art, comics, memes, zines, music). If you’d like to introduce us to someone important to you, who has made a difference in your life and has helped you succeed, we’d love to hear about that person or hear directly from them in a video. We are open to all kinds of contributions!

We also look forward to hearing from WGSS faculty, graduate students, and alums. At graduation each year, we announce several awards for graduating seniors. This year will be no different, and we will tell you about the awardees on this blog and social media.

We also know that students want an in-person rather than a zoom ceremony (yes, we’re all sick of zoom!). We plan to have an in-person departmental ceremony in the fall and we will be in touch once we know more details about exactly where and when that will take place.
