PROJECT TITLE: Untitled (temporary)
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Taking inspiration from Ian Spriggs’s 3D portraits, I want to approach 3D compositing with photography with a similar level of realism and attention to detail. 3D compositing is already widely used in advertising with the focus on appeal and believable “enough” compositing. What popular methods generally lack is extremely accurate lighting, reflections, shadows, and other fine details; this is what I aim to target to fully integrate digital objects in a real world environment that hold up to scrutiny.
OUTCOMES:
- 3-5 photo series of a human subject composited with a 3D rendering with scene accurate lighting and reflections.
- Around 8” x 12” in size printed in color.
METHODS AND MATERIALS:
Subject shot within photo studio, reference clean plate of studio, spherical high dynamic range image of the studio from subject’s location, 3D modeling and rendering software (Blender), photo panoramic stitcher (PTGui)
