What comes first in your mind when you think of your education? Education, right? Education has its own inherent value and even though we also need diplomas to get jobs and have a career, we don’t want to ask the purpose for which we get an education. I just realized that in order to tackle the challenges faced by educated people, we must really ask the question of purpose behind getting education.

I considered myself a good writer prior coming to United States. Chinese, being my first language, I could feel the beauty of that language deep in my body. Writing was one of my favorite things to do back in middle school in China. I wrote at least one journal entry per day and I was proud of my writing. English, on the other hand, is somewhat unfamiliar for me. I have always struggled with the articles, more importantly, I struggled to express my inner invoice in English.

For me, actually, I think for most international students, we do not consider writing in English as to express our thoughts, ideas, and emotion. As opposed, we often consider writing as to write in correct grammar, right articles, and complete sentence. Continue reading

Living in a modern society awash in high technology, tremendous changes are happening in our life. The “Old capitalism”, the sort of capitalism brought us great economic success in the United States after WWII, has been transformed into the “New capitalism”. Especially in developed countries, such as the United States, “Old capitalism” only exists as a backgrounded formation. A top down system, which knowledge and control only existed at the top, is no longer the norm. Since distribution of knowledge create greater productively, collaboration in the team has become important in the new capitalism work places. If you think this change of social formation only means the shift from commodities being the central to design being the central, you are most likely to be wrong.
