My story is entitled Wired. It follows the day in the life of a girl named Mina through her own thoughts, interactions, and emotions. This comic is meant to represent depression and feelings of hopelessness and how it affects Mina as well as those around her. It’s also meant to show that no matter what, you are never truly alone. More importantly, you don’t have to go through it alone.

ARS 225 Midterm Project

The issue I choose to portray in my midterm assignment is the growing influence of the media in our society today and in the future. Media has become a big part of our society today. From the internet to magazines to newspapers to television, media influences our thoughts feelings and perceptions of the world around us. It is a powerful force but one that I believe can work in a positive and negative way. I believe that this will only continue to grow as the years go on. However, if we start taking some steps now, we can issue that the media grows in a positive way by the year 2038.

The first picture illustrates my vision of the year 2038. It shows the year 2038 through a background on an iPad. It is meant to illustrate how the media can evolve into a positive force that benefits the millions of people that use it in their everyday lives. My vision for the future includes a media climate that emphasizes diversity and the importance of cultivating a more interconnected world.

The second picture shows the possible negative future in terms of the media. The left side shows where we are in the present day. As you view the image from left to right, it transitions from the present day to a more negative side of the media. I believe that if we don’t take steps to change the current issues with the media, we could be faced with a more chaotic media climate in the future.

The third picture represents what could be done to change the current climate in the media in order to achieve a positive vision for the future. The picture represents how media companies and influencers have to think in broader terms when deciding what message, they want to put out for the world to see. It shows how we need to expand the reach of the media to create a positive force of change.
