Persona 1: Brian

Backstory

Brian is a Junior at Stony Brook University who has been an active member of MAA since his freshman year. He attends their meetings weekly and participates in most of their activities, in addition to recommending the club to many of his friends. Brian has had lifelong involvement with martial arts, and had a part time job teaching Jiu Jitsu to children while in high school. Joining the MAA was a way to continue his involvement with martial arts, as he moved across the state to attend SBU. He loves to be a part of their community for his social and physical health.

Motivations

The website will be of use to Brian by being able to view and keep track of any events happening within the club, in a space specifically design for the club, instead of relying on social media. The website also serves as a place to submit input to the club’s board whenever he has questions or concerns.

Persona 2: Amanda

Age: 18

Location: Ronkonkoma, NY

Job Title: Student

Backstory

Amanda is an SBU Freshman who has never been to an MAA meeting. She is a commuter student who is worried she will have trouble making friends without a dorm to force proximity. She is seeking a club where she can make friends, and definitely wouldn’t mind the added benefit of a great exercise at the same time. Amanda is currently searching for a club to join, and her friend informed her of the SBU MAA club.

Motivations

Amanda’s motivation for the website will be to learn more about the club before she joins. In addition, she needs to know the all important meeting times of the club, which would be consistently kept up to date on their site instead of a potentially out of date Facebook page.
