Work Statement
My two paintings are a reaction to what the media filters out in today’s society regarding the human form and body. These two paintings are based on the premise that there’s an expected type of way someone should look and act as depicting this standard and “normal” image to society. Through the use of different brush strokes and colors in my work, it depicts what is not seen as “perfect” in the media. By showing natural bodies in different shapes, angles, forms, and accentuating shadows, my paintings show what is not highlighted as often.
