Project 4

Narrative – Storytelling

“Life Through The Pages”

For this project, I wanted to illustrate how reading a book can transport you to another world. I tried to achieve this by changing the background and saturation in each image to reflect how immersed you feel, depending on the part of the book you’re up to. This was my first time trying to use still life/props to build a scene, it was a lot of work but I think the outcome was worth the effort. Since it was my first time I also chose to use a prop that I felt comfortable with, which in this case was the flowers; incorporating nature into my photography already feels natural to me so I think this was an appropriate choice. In hindsight I think that if I could have done one aspect of this project differently, I would have made the hand motions sequential in the middle 4 images to make the series flow better. For example, I would have made the second to last frame show the motion of my hand on the left side of the book finished with turning the page, such that each shot would’ve been a different frame of my hands turning a page. Other than that I’m pretty satisfied with how this turned out.
