Self-Portraits

Self-Portraits

When learning about portraiture in class, the one thing that stood out to me is the advice to photograph subjects in environments that they’re comfortable in. This is something I set out to do, and I hate to sound likeĀ that person, but I do think that this era of being infatuated with social media has distorted the way I perceive myself. By taking self-portraits in places where I felt comfortable, I thought that I could depict myself honestly and truthfully. Strangely enough, with the whole COVID-19 situation going on, places that originally felt familiar and comfortable to me suddenly felt different. Throughout this series, I tried to show how current events have affected my interactions with the environment around me.
