Why I Chose Biomedical Engineering

My interests in the biomedical engineering field lie mostly in synthetic biology. I was introduced to the topic through my high school research and have had experience in exploring the computational aspect of it. I have worked with a lab to analyze the effects of altering parameters in various ways on synthetic gene circuits. Thus, I chose this major and this accompanying class because I wanted to explore other aspects of the field outside of synthetic biology. Topics in biomedical engineering that I have an interest in include tissue engineering and biomechanics, specifically to study athletes and improve daily function.
