Stopped in to the Stony Brook Job Expo today. This is an event that’s held every semester during the first week or two of classes. There were literally dozens of companies and offices, both on- and off-campus, just clamoring to hire students. All the big campus offices were there (Academic Affairs, Admissions, Athletics, Residence Life), along with local stores (Target, Circuit City, Walmart), community service agencies and companies. The room was packed; there must have been a couple hundred students there.
Outside the Job Expo was a Campus Recreation table, where they had signups for all the intramural sports. (Got myself a cool frisbee.) And outside the SAC was a huge fire safety demo day, where they were giving away all sorts of free stuff.
Don’t ever let anyone tell you there’s nothing to do on this campus.
