Blonde: Visual

Description:

I will create visuals to one of my favorite albums, Blonde by Frank Ocean. Here I will take 3 songs to focus on, and create a visual series to go along with the song. This would be my way of creating a whole new aspect to the music experience. The songs I will be choosing are Self Control, Ivy, Pink & White. Each song is about a past relationship but at different times of Frank’s life. I will combine the songs together and use them to tell a new story of one relationship. Each song will signify a different part of the relationship. This new relationship will be a memory of the time two people shared. I will focus on certain lyrics from the songs as inspiration for each lyric. “If the sky was pink and white, if the ground was black and yellow”.

Outcome:

  • Printed photos (12-24)
  • They will be put up in the stairwell, underneath the light on the wall

Methods/Materials:

  • My camera
  • Tripod

Frank Ocean- Blonde Tribute

In the Mood for Love by Wong Kar-wai

Grosse Fatigue Commentary

A part I found to be interesting the Grosse Fatigue video was when the narrator was talking about the different forms of relationships (monogamy & polygamy) and all the videos that popped on the screen were layered onto one another. As each new video that popped up was smaller than the previous one, which made the screen seem to close into the center. Another part of the film that was interesting was when the museum worker kept opening the drawers full of birds. Every time he went to open a new drawer I was curious to see what he would pop out next because he seemed to have an endless supply of birds. I find both of these interesting because I love things that repeat and are cyclical in nature.
