Ry Rivard of Inside Higher Education reports about the newest study from the Center for Creative Leadership, the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and Higher Education Resource Services, known as HERS.  The study outlines barriers faced by women administrators in higher education looking to move up to leadership positions.

Some barriers the study found include: not having a leadership identity, a lack of opportunity and support, discouragement and/or sabotage and different expectations for men and women.

Positively, women who were able to thrive in leadership positions attribute it to the following: formal development experience, early leadership experience, encouragement and support and having a role model.
