What is the HRBMP database?

The database consists of all the data collected through the various HRBMP survey components. The HRBMP completed its first series of river wide surveys in 1974 and covered the extent of the Hudson River Estuary from the Troy Dam in Albany to Battery Park. For a full history of what led to the development of the HRBMP see the History page, and for a general overview of the HRBMP survey see The Surveys drop down menu, which has a series of pages for each of the 6 main HRBMP surveys.

Metadata

Due to the complexity of the database, the HRBMP team developed a suite of metadata documents for the main HRBMP surveys including the Long River, Fall Juvenile, Beach Seine, and Water Quality Surveys. The metadata documents are available for download and include a description of the survey with summary figures and tables, data dictionary documenting all variables collected by the survey, timeline of survey protocol changes, and metadata records in HTML and XML format.
