The HRBMP lab group aims to further understand the complex ecosystem of the Hudson River and Estuary as well as develop better ways of monitoring fisheries using the rich database and biological collection now at Stony Brook.  Both objectives are a part of good stewardship of this natural resources as well as food security  and sustainability for the greater New York region. This river system, which has been heavily influenced by industrialization and development, can serve as a model for improving the health of other rivers and estuaries.
