A study led by Dr. Colin Zarzycki (NCAR) and coauthored by Prof. Reed was publish in Geoscientific Model Development.  The paper investigates the impact of the surface coupling strategy in the Community Earth System Model on simulated tropical cyclones at high horizontal resolution.  The results show that the selection of the computation grid for atmosphere-ocean interactions can have a large impact on tropical cyclone intensities.
