Graduate Research Assistant
Department of Medicine, Stony Brook University
August 2023 – Present
- MS Project: Identifying critical WNT pathway components in intestinal epithelial and stromal cells driving the early stages of the intestinal epithelium’s response to radiation injury
- Conducted analysis of the open chromatin in the injured mouse intestinal epithelium using ATAC-Seq to identify various pathways being expressed
- Cultured murine intestinal organoids for RNA isolation
- Performed gene expression analysis using RT-qPCR and RNAscope in situ hybridization
Research & Development Intern
Werfen North America
May 2023 – August 2023
- Project: assessed the stability of two in vitro diagnostic reagents used for hemostasis testing, contributing to the enhancement of product performance and reliability
- Determined the reasons behind a product stability failure through analytical techniques, including high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and zeta potential testing
- Analyzed reformulated reagents through stability studies (on-board, open-vial, and real-time stability)
- Learned how to use automated coagulation analyzers for hemostasis testing
Undergraduate Research Assistant
Department of Medicine, Stony Brook University
August 2021 – May 2023
- Project 1: Investigated the efficacy of two small-molecule inhibitors in vitro using six pancreatic cancer cell lines through western blot analysis, cell-based assays, and performed mammalian cell culture (Publication)
- Project 2: Assessed the role of Activin A signaling in acute pancreatitis through immunohistochemistry analysis and microscopy (Publication)
- Analyzed data, created publication figures, wrote research papers, and presented results at conferences
Projects:
Wearable Assistive Device for Blind/Visually Impaired Users
- Prototyped a wearable embedded system for hands-free navigation with emergency fall detection alerts in collaboration with four co-inventors
- Lead development of algorithms for multi-directional obstacle detection and fall detection with notifications to emergency contacts through a bluetooth-connected phone app
- Integrated circuit design with software and tested functionality of the device
- Presented at the Undergraduate Research & Creative Activities (URECA) Symposium 2024 and the Honors Symposium 2024
