Today we had a field trip to a remote site. It was my second time being at the hybrid lab but my first time in the SINC Site itself.
I am going to start with the SINC Site first which is located on the first floor of Staller Center (Music side). It is very different compared to all the other site. Some differences include:
- Computers: The computers in this SINC Site support the Mac OS. What I mean by that is that, as you can see in the photos, they don’t look like the Mac Computers we see in Main SINC Site or even in the hybrid lab (the silver monitor). Although they “look” like Windows from a far, it is not.
- Sound: Their sound system is controlled by a central control system. I thought this was interested because usually the sound is controlled by a single computer.
- Key Boards/Tablets/Headphones: I clumped these three things into one category because from my experience, this SINC site provide a lot of resources for students who are into music and art. All if not most of the computers here has one of these contraptions attached to it.
This SINC site is geared towards students who are in music/art majors/minors. I like how this is a specialized SINC site and that it provides and runs different programs that other SINC sites do not support.
The Hybrid Lab is also another specialized lab and classroom. This lab is like the E-Media Lab but the computers are clearly Mac Operating Systems and has programs that assist with the arts and music.
I learned a lot about the SINC Site and Lab at Fine Arts. I felt that if we did not have this field trip, I would have not known about these Sites and the programs they provide. This will help me in the future if I want to direct students a site that will help with them their projects.
