Reverse Roles

April 29,2014

As I come closer to the end of the internship, I am learning through experience. Diane got an idea from one of the consultants that was working and decided to have me teach her stuff. I was like I was the mentor and she was the intern. At first, I didn’t know where to start. I know for a fact that in the near future, I will use my SB You Blog as guideline as to what to teach my mentee. It is a reflection of what my mentors taught me.

Before I decided to “teach” Diane, the student help desk received a phone call and a student was looking for the media lab to print out the posters for URECA. I directed her to the Teaching, Learning Lab which is right before the Main Library SINC Site. There she will be able to print a poster for URECA.

So I tried to teach through my blog, which has its  ups and downs. The great thing about using the SB You blog is that it has all the thoughts and information about various services and mentor experience during the semester. The bad thing is that, there are some blogs that have so much information and other blogs and rarely have any information. Basically some of my posts may seem very bland because a lot of it is something you have to experience.

In the end, I taught Diane the responsibilities of a student help desk and focused on making sure that the customer service is exceptional and that we try to help students as much as we can.
