NOAA Fisheries is conducting a voluntary survey about saltwater recreational fishing, recreational fisheries management, and data collection. The interviews will focus on where recreational anglers go for information and how they share that information. Interviewers will also ask about angler attitudes, beliefs, and opinions on fisheries management agencies.

NOAA Fisheries will use the interviews to improve agency understanding of saltwater recreational anglers’ opinions and beliefs on fisheries management and data collection. Findings will help the agency more effectively communicate with saltwater recreational anglers. These interviews are completely voluntary and, because of the ongoing pandemic, are currently conducted by phone and internet – no in-person meeting is required. NOAA Fisheries is working with ECS, a federal contractor, and researchers from the University of Miami, University of Florida, and Purdue University to administer the survey and analyze the results of the interviews.
