Meetings

All regularly scheduled meetings of the Council are held on Tuesdays at 2:00pm at the office of the Division of Marine Resources, NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, 123 Kings Park Blvd. Kings Park, NY 11754.  Any change in meeting dates, times or location will be posted on this Web Page. Those planning to attend a Council meeting are encouraged to check this Web Page beforehand for any such changes.

Below are the dates of the regularly-scheduled meetings of the Marine Resources Advisory Council in Calendar 2024:

BLACK SEA BASS – Latest news
At the Council meeting held 3/23/16 the DEC provided a table of various options with regard to the reduction of black sea bass quota for the recreational sector.  From the options provided (see below) a motion was made by Councilor Paradiso, seconded by Councilor Witek –  Motion:  Move to adopt option 15.3 for the New York 2016 recreational black sea bass fishery (Option 15.3, Possession limit 5/8/10, Season July 8th-August 31st/September 1st-October 31st/November 1st-December 31st, Size 15.0″)  Since there wasn’t a quorum present at the meeting, the vote was later handled via email.  The results are:  Yays (6), Nays (4), Abstentions (2), No vote (1),  Motion passes.

2015 Meetings

Note regarding May 19th Meeting: The Council will be meeting, however, it will be a closed door session to discuss possible changes to procedures, venue, and the Chairmanship.  The next regularly scheduled meeting including the public will take place on July 14th at 7:00 p.m. at the DEC offices located at 205 Belle Meade Road, East Setauket .

Below are the dates of the regularly-scheduled meetings of the Marine Resources Advisory Council in Calendar 2015:

Directions:     Long Island Expressway (LIE, I-495) to exit 62 (Nicolls Road/County Route 97).  North on Nicolls Road for about 9 miles, crossing Route 347 to 2nd traffic light north of 347.  Make a left at light (South Entrance) onto South Drive. At the next light, make a right turn onto Marburger Drive.  Less than 500’ turn right into Marine Sciences entrance, and immediately bear right.  Follow the road to the School of Marine & Atmospheric Sciences and Endeavour Hall.  You can park your car in the lot between Discovery & Endeavour Halls.  The meeting will take place in 120 Endeavour Hall.
