As oceanographers, we have a commitment to reinforcing the incorporation of research and education at every academic level. This includes training, mentoring and support of post-doctoral fellows, graduate and high school students, as well as contributions to public education.
To accomplish this goal, The School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences at Stony Brook University, under the guidance of Dr. Emmanuelle Pales-Espinosa, has established a strong relationship with the Long Island Aquarium at Riverhead, NY to develop an outreach program to extend the impact of our research beyond the bounds of academia.
Annually, the Long Island Aquarium reaches thousands of visitors , most of them with zillions of questions on marine sciences and a strong desire to learn, making the aquarium the perfect place to reach the public and provide science exploration programs.
Along with Long Island Aquarium staff, we introduce the public to ocean and atmospheric science content including hot-topic through engaging hands-on activities, seminars, videos, round tables, interviews and interactive stations.
The Oceanographers of the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences at Stony Brook University are delighted to welcome you to the “Meet with an Oceanographer” events at LI Aquarium at Riverhead.
