Mother and Child Sewing, 2020, Woodcut, Watercolor and chine collé on Rives paper, 8 x 18”

Inspired by a short story written by the artist titled “When the Rain Falls,” this image explores the generativity and culture of sewing in the artist’s Costa Rican background and the idea of gender equality starting at home. The subjects are stitching plastics to make clothes since cotton can’t grow.
